At its core, Ponte Aérea is an exploration of the "liquid love" described by sociologist Zygmunt Bauman. Bruno, an artist from Rio, and Amanda, a high-flying marketing executive from São Paulo, represent the clash of two distinct urban identities. Their relationship is a series of arrivals and departures, punctuated by the cold, sterile environments of airports and hotel rooms. The film uses the geographic distance between Brazil's two largest cities as a metaphor for the emotional distance the characters must bridge.
