The movie follows the story of Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz), a foul-mouthed, chain-smoking, and hard-drinking teacher who works at a Denver public school. She's more interested in getting drunk and going to parties than in teaching her students. When Elizabeth discovers that she has a $5 million lottery ticket, she decides to quit her job and live the high life.
