Her mother’s voice echoed in her head: "Never get into a car that doesn't look right." But her wallet and her aching arches argued louder. She bent down and tapped on the passenger window.

As Aaeysha makes her daring escape, she lands on the hood of another car, causing a scene. The driver, realizing he's been caught, slams on the brakes. Aaeysha gets up, shaken but unharmed, and confronts the driver. The police arrive, and the driver is taken away.

It wasn't until she was inside her warm flat that she realized she had never actually booked the ride through her app. She looked at her phone: the original driver had canceled ten minutes after she got into Mike's car. She smiled to herself, realizing that sometimes the best journeys are the ones you never planned to take.

Aaeysha's heart rate quickened. This wasn't a legitimate taxi ride. She quickly typed out a message on her phone and hit send, hoping someone would get the message in time.
