For a long time, Facebook Lite was the savior of older Android devices. Designed specifically for emerging markets and low-end hardware, it runs exceptionally well on Android 4.4.2.
As of 2024, the technological landscape has shifted. Google and Facebook have moved on. Modern iterations of Facebook for Android require newer API levels to function correctly.
If you have a broken, older version of Facebook installed, uninstall it completely. Go to Settings > Apps > Facebook > Uninstall . Also uninstall "Facebook App Installer" and "Facebook App Manager" if present.

Android 4.4.2 was released in 2013. While it was a revolutionary OS for its time (Project Svelte improved RAM usage), modern Facebook apps are built for Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above. Current versions rely on new code libraries (like WebView updates and newer API level 21+ features) that simply do not exist on KitKat.
